The Capture Integration team has wrapped yet another successful workshop. “I attend a lot of workshops, in fact, I am kind of a workshop addict. And this is the best workshop that I have ever been to,” said attendee Tom Fielder. We were in one of the most beautiful states in the country, with the best photographic equipment in the world, and shooting with one of the best architectural photographers today. Does it really get any better that this? Yes, it does….. we were at Avalanche Ranch! From the outset, attendees were able to touch and use Tech Cameras from Cambo, Sinar, Arca-Swiss, Alpa. And what digital backs were there? Really it was more “which ones were not there?” A list of the equipment at the workshop can be seen below the slideshow of our event. And huge Thank You’s go out to Cambo, Phase One, Eizo, and Leica as they were key sponsors.
The Competition
After spending 9+ hours in production with Jeffrey’s crew, the group split into two teams. Armed with lighting assistants and the Phase One IQ260/Cambo setups, the teams went head-to-head in a lighting competition. Each group was assigned a custom cabin at the ranch to interpret and light as they chose. Using Jeffrey’s advice and techniques, the teams went into battle. Here are the final files. Which one do YOU like better?
Why Montana?
This was our second year in a row hosting a workshop here. Hosting an event requires a ridiculous amount of work, but with a luxury setting of amazing architecture surrounded by incredible landscape. it’s hard to say no. And we look forward to coming back annually. Avalanche Ranch was built in 2004 as a private luxury estate. The design is the unique vision of Amber Kelleher, who fancied herself a Victorian born into the future. Ms. Kelleher assembled an army of world-class design consultants to build a lodge and an estate in the style she calls ”Dragon-Scandinavian”, Just think Valhalla meets Legends of the Fall.
The luxurious Avalanche Ranch, nestled in the foothills of the majestic Swan Range of the Rocky Mountains and located only 45 minutes from Glacier National Park, consists of a 17,000-square foot main lodge and 4 additional alpine-inspired guesthouses. The main lodge features a professional-grade kitchen, dining room for 14, great room featuring a 27 foot-high ceiling, stately stone fireplace, a library, an Old West-inspired billiards parlor, card room and an executive-grade Theo Kalomirakis-designed home theater (perfect for Capture One Pro training and slide shows).
