If you find yourself in need of Capture One 3.7.7 on a computer that has 10.5 OS (Leopard) on it you will have to do a manual installation. While Phase One does not officially support 10.5 as of yet, they have promised a soon-to-be-released update (named 3.7.8). In the meantime the manual installation will allow you to utilize the software. There will be a few features that either will not work at all or will only work sporadically – the installer is a prime example. It doesn’t work. Of course if you are reading this you probably already know that.

The most notable error we have found using 3.7.7 is that the import from CF card dialogue does not work. A progress bar will appear and the import will seem like it is working, but no files will actually be copied into your capture folder! This could be catastrophic if you select to “trash files after import” since the files would be deleted from the card but not copied to your hard drive. We have also heard of some difficulties with tethered Canon shooting.

The 1st step is the most important… and one that is inadvertently left off of the knowledge base article provided by Phase One. You must use a installer located on your hard drive— not from a CD. Most individuals simply download a new copy from Phase One’s web site: http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Downloads/COforMac.aspx however you can also copy an installer from another hard drive if you wish.

Once you have the installer on your hard drive, do a “right click” or hold the control key and click on the installer to see your selection menu.

Now you must preform two seperate task from this window… the first one is to click and drag the Capture One application into your computer’s
application folder.

After copying the application over, you will now need to install your profiles. Return to the “Installer Items” window.

Now select the DB Profiles and open that folder.

Depending on your needs you may want to copy all the files, or just multiple files that correspond to your digital back. Whichever you choose must be copied to the color sync folder located inside your MAIN hard drive’s Library.

Once again return to your installer items window and open the common color sync folder.

Select all of these files and copy them to your color sync profiles folder (same folder as last copy)

One last step is needed, you may want to place a shortcut or application icon into your dock, some prefer to place it directly onto the desktop, either way you will need to open the Application folder and drag the icon to the dock.

Note: if you want a icon on your desktop, make sure you right (or control) click on the application icon and “make alias”… dragging it directly to the desktop will move the application.

Once you have finished these steps launch and test Capture One 3.7.7. Most of your functions will preform as expected, however the Compact Flash Card importer will not work, simply drag your files into your folder.
