Ophthalmologists, optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, and photographers or anyone working with imaging in opthalmology who also have a passion for personal digital photography, and Photoshop.

Category I CME accreditation (12.0 credits) has been applied for, through the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Final notification of accreditation will be available prior to the workshop. Plus, we have scheduled this workshop for one of the most beautiful times of year in Yosemite – with pleasant temperatures during the day and fall colors in the Sierra.
In addition to our ophthalmic courses, included in the workshop will be courses in Photoshop, principles of digital photography, digital imaging workflow and photography field trips to selected areas within Yosemite National Park. We will also spend time reviewing attendees photographs and working with them to improve their photography.

Instructors

William F. Mieler, MD, is Professor and Vice-Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the Univer- sity of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL. His specialty areas include diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, along with ocular oncology. Dr. Mieler’s interest in photography parallels his interest in numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and climbing. He has visited virtually all of the National Parks in the USA, along with numerous international parks and World Heritage sites. He has presented a selection of his landscape and wildlife images at several conferences in New York City.

Richard F. Spaide, MD, is an ophthalmologist in private practice at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York, specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous. His interests include ocular imaging, retinal surgery, macular degeneration, macular holes, and intra- ocular inflammation. He has a long-term interest in fine art photography and his work has been exhibited in individual and group photography shows.

Mark Maio is Founder and CEO of the Digital Imaging Institute. In over 35 years of working in the field of biomedical imaging, he has held numerous academic positions including Director of Ophthalmic Photography at Emory University and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthal-mology at SUNY Buffalo. He also served 4 years as presi- dent of the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society. In 1999 Mark developed the first high-resolution digital imaging system in ophthalmology. He has continued to work in the commercial sector since that time. In 2006 he was selected by Adobe to assist in their development of Photoshop CS3/4/5 Extended, the first versions of the software program to contain medical, technical and scientific digital imaging tools. Through his work with Adobe, the idea for the Digital Imaging Institute was born.

Jim DiVitale has been an Atlanta commercial advertising photographer and instructor for over 25 years and Director of Education for the Digital Imaging Institute. Jim has lectured before audi- ences and taught workshops at imaging conferences and schools around the world. As a member of the National Association of Photo- shop Professionals Instructor Dream Team since 2000, Jim writes the Digital Capture Workshop column for Photoshop User Magazine. He has authored several Adobe Photoshop training CDs that are shown at Photoshop Training Expos across North America and Europe. As a member of Professional Photographers of America for more than 25 years, Jim has earned the Master of Photography, Master of Electronic Imaging and Photographic Craftsman degrees and is a Canon Explorer of Light.

Dave Gallagher Dave Gallagher founded Capture Integration in Atlanta, GA in 2004 having worked for many of the top international digital imaging companies such as Calumet Digital Solutions, Sinar Bron Imaging and Phase One.
