By Dave Gallagher, Owner, Husband, Father I live in downtown Atlanta. Two of my children go to a local charter school. Charter schools are privately run primary and secondary schools that receive partial public and partial private funding. The positive aspect of these schools are that the community decides on curriculum, scheduling, and management and are not held to the regulations of state run public schools. The negative aspect is that it takes quite of bit of outside funding to make up for the shortfall of financial backing. The positives dramatically outweigh the negatives in regards to inner city schools and by doing so there is a lottery system in order to be accepted. But lets get back to the reason for this post… : ) Charter schools REQUIRE each parent to volunteer a certain amount of hours per child and we have TWO! Needless to say my wife spends more time volunteering than I do. So when I heard of the chance to shoot the annual school photo, I jumped in to do my part. So what do you use to shoot a 300 child group photo? Heck, a 60mp P65+ of course, what else would anyone use? As you can see the shoot went as smooth as it possible could with that many squirming adolescents. And I have to admit that the results were outstanding. It is incredible to see all the amazing detail of each child at this distance. And even more so, it is a joy to view each individual’s personality by their expressions. I loved this so much that I just thought I had to share it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
