Check out Leica’s Photokina 2016 announcements:
According to Leica the Leica SL Multifunction Handgrip provides the perfect grip, even for single-handed use held vertically. It also provides an additional shutter release, a joystick control for autofocus, and a compartment for an optional second battery. The SL Multifunction Handgrip is made of milled aluminum and it is compatible with the Handstrap S (cat. #16004). The SL Multifunction Handgrip will be available beginning October 2016.
The second debut from Leica at Photokina 2016 is the Leica Summilux-SL 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. It is the first SL prime lens in the Leica portfolio. According to Leica this autofocus lens delivers outstanding optical performance and sets the next generation benchmark from the leaders in optical technology. Thanks to internal focusing, the overall length of the lens remains unchanged when focusing. This lens does not compromise on any aspect of optical performance.
The Leica Summilux-SL 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH optical design contains a total of 11 elements, of which two are aspherical elements and four are made from glasses with anomalous partial dispersion for the correction of chromatic aberrations. This lens will be available in early 2017.
