This Saturday I have a haircut appointment with one of my favorite people, Kiki. I have been getting haircuts from Kiki for about the past 4 – 5 years. Before that, I meandered for a while, going from stylist to stylist after my hair stylist retired, until I found Kiki. Why do I get my hair cut by Kiki, and why does it matter?

Someone called me the other day and asked me about Eizo LCD displays. I spent about 30-40 minutes discussing the details of Eizo products, technically and what the ramifications were in real world use, how they compared to other displays, what this end user relied on his display for, etc. Quite a bit of information was exchanged. I could tell he wasn’t used to this. He had called asking for a price and thought that was it. Utlimately, I suspect he bought one, probably from B&H or somewhere else that he could just order without interacting with anybody, ether before he purchased or after.

Kiki doing her best with what she has to work with.

Sometimes it’s like that. Not everyone values relationships. Not everyone wants to trust others. It’s hard finding companies and individuals that you trust so much that you feel they truly care about what you’re considering buying. And that they actually feel responsible for your purchase being the wisest choice.

I really value Kiki. Look at the expression on her face – like, Steve, what kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into with your hair? You can tell she can’t wait to straighten it out. Give me Kiki any day of the week.
