Shipping! Alpa Lens in New Rodenstock Aperture Mount

Digital backs with electronic shutter capability – currently Phase One IQ 3 100 series (including Trichromatic and Achromatic models) Phase One IQ4 100 and 150 series (including Trichromatic and Achromatic models), and Hasselblad H6D-100c, are becoming increasingly available. The new Rodenstock aperture unit – with its almost round, 9-piece aperture pattern – optimally supports this shutter type. Lenses mounted in Alpa Short Barrel mount can also be used on the ALPA 12 FPS with its built-in focal-plane shutter (SB34, SB51, FPS SB17), and this now also includes lenses outfitted with the Rodenstock Aperture Mount.

We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming full availability of the ALPA HR Alpagon/Alpar lenses in the new Rodenstock aperture unit.

ALPA Platon – The Big Picture

The ALPA PLATON system combines sensors with more than 60mm diagonal with state-of-the-art cine lenses to a compact and powerful unit and opens up completely new possibilities for filmmakers: The large sensor enables the user to work with selective depth of field and gives the images an impressive three-dimensionality and plasticity. At the same time, the small format factor allows the system to be used in gimbals and makes it the ideal B-camera for other 65mm systems. The ALPA PLATON system offers you numerous connection options such as Arri rosettes, Nato rail, ULCS balls and 15mm rod systems.

ALPA is taking advantage of the 4K medium-format video recording option offered by the Hasselblad H6D-100c digital back and expanding its range to include moving images:

With the H6D-100c, the Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad is the first to provide a digital back with a 100 megapixel CMOS sensor measuring 53.4 x 40.0 mm, which today already enables 4K videos across the entire sensor and could even offer 8K in future sensor versions.

At 16:9, this corresponds to around 53.4 x 30 mm and 61 mm image circle. In addition to the Hasselblad proprietary RAW format, which can be converted to Cinema DNG with the help of Phocus software, there is also the option of recording videos in HD quality in H.264 format. The data can be stored on SD or Cfast cards.

The ALPA Platon (kit without cine lenses and digital back) is available at a net price of CHF 14,800 (currently $16,690 USD).

ALP 12 FPS / Silex – Firmware Upgrade 5.10

The new version of the firmware for the ALPA 12 FPS and ALPA Silex Mk II offers new long time exposure mode besides constant improvements…

Long-term exposure: The exposure times and f-stops are strictly stable and therefore double or halve per EV step. Even with smaller step widths, they strictly follow the EV logic. The longest directly selectable exposure time is 128 seconds.

However, at the customer’s request, we have now installed a special long-time exposure function. This is selected in the bracketing menu and, like the other modes, switched on/off by pressing the right arrow key for a long time.

The long-time exposure function allows to preselect the exposure time from 1/10 second up to 69 minutes, 59 seconds, 9 tenths of a second. The requested time is efficiently set per digit.

Multiple Exposure: The multiple exposure now also works perfectly with ALPA Silex Mk II.

Sync Programs: We have again optimized the synchronous programs, especially for the Phase One IQ4 digital backs. Please delete all old sync programs and replace them with the new versions.
