Recently, Leica introduced not two or three but FIVE new items…

The announcements consist of what Leica calls – a new first of its kind – L-mount, the next evolution of the Leica S-System, a new mobile application and some significant firmware updates. Check out the highlights from Leica’s latest announcements…

The New L – Mount

  • Will allow for a nearly limitless array of options by combining different interchangeable lenses with cameras featuring different sensor formats
  • Ability to mix and match Leica, Panasonic and SIGMA full-frame & APS-C cameras with any lens from each other’s product portfolio
  • Features a larger diameter that ensures maximum product diversity
  • Multiple electrical contact points for enhanced communication between lens and the camera

Leica S3

  • Utilizes Leica ProFormat developed for Leica S-System line
  • Resolution increase from 37 to 64 megapixels and increased low light performance
  • Continuous shooting rate of three frames per second
  • For the first time the sensor area enables 4k cinema resolution

New Silver Finish Option for Leica CL

  • You will now have the option to order this sleek black camera in silver
  • The black leather trim of the black style stays the same and the top plate and baseplate are both silver anodized and control movements are finished and silver

Leica FOTOS

  • A new mobile app that houses all of the tools Leica photographers need to stay connected easily
  • Pairs with all current WIFI enabled Leica Cameras
  • Allows photographers to capture images remotely, transfer, edit and share images quickly and on the go
  • Automatically save all Leica camera credentials to instantly connect the next time it is used with the phone
  • Enables photographers to access the Live View function of the camera and remotely change exposure-relevant settings
  • Allows wireless control of the shutter release

Firmware Updates

Leica SL-Sysytem – Firmware Update 3.3

  • Upgraded power saving mode that allows the camera to go into ‘Auto Pose Off’ after a fixed amount of time (formerly 10 seconds now 3 seconds )
  • Increased battery life
  • Shutter press has been added to auto review settings and the option no longer enables the camera to show Auto Review while the shutter release is pressed
  • These features allow the photographer the ability to focus on the action at hand where there may not be time to review each picture

Leica S (Typ 007) – Firmware Update

  • Improved video operation with the Leica S Cable Release for remote start/stop control as well as the new and improved 3:1 photomask that enables easier composing for super wide aspect ratios
  • longer exposure time of up to two minutes
  • Center markings for Live View Autofocus
  • Top Dial  Customization
  • GPS Tag bug fixes relating to mirror and color patterns with certain lenses

Leica M10 – M10-P – Firmware Update 2.6.5.1

  • Compatible with the Leica FOTOS
  • New QR code that enables easy paring of smartphones and Leica cameras
  • 1-Click connection with the FN button
