I recently spent 3 days in Ketchum, Idaho, in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. I’ve been in mountain ranges and I’ve been in deep snowfall but have never really experienced both at the same time. The snow covered peaks were some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever witnessed. People thought I was crazy when I told them I was headed to Idaho in late January. But it turned out to be one of my favorite trips I’ve taken.
Mountain Sample from Ketchum, Idaho, Phase One P65+, DF Body, 45mm D Lens
I spent most of my time working with Jeff Lubeck, helping Jeff dive into the use of the Phase One IQ180 digital back and Cambo WRS Camera, as well as some Capture One workflow and image editing (for example, evening out exposure and color for a stitched scene that included the sun in front of clouds on one shot, and behind clouds on the next.
Lubeck Ridge
Jeff was a perfect host and even has a mountain named after him, located in his backyard.
Jamie Bourret, Mountain Images Gallery
As a coincidence, another client, Jamie Bourret also happens to live in Ketchum and operates Mountain Images Gallery – http://jamesbourret.photoshelter.com – filled with beautiful images of Jamie’s work, shot with Phase One P45+ and Cambo WRS. It was great to catch up with Jamie and get a close-up view of the amazing images he’s been capturing.
Unknown Orange-Red, Phase One P65+, DF Body, 45mm D Lens
One of my favorite sites was this orange red tree species. Jeff Lubeck told me the name of the species, but I have since forgotten. I’m looking forward to another visit so I can see this breathtaking scenery again. Wouldn’t be a bad location for a workshop!
