The Food Photography workshop was filled with exciting tools and techniques for everyone that attended.
We started the day by learning more about the importance of food styling. Laura Ciffone, food stylist and home economist, explained how to shop for food, the importance of food prepping the day before and mastering food plating.

Food & Beverage Photographer & MasterChef Sid Hoeltzell shared his props, backgrounds, special ice cubes and lighting secrets before we tackled the first overhead shot of pasta and wine. We had the opportunity to participate in multiple hands-on setups during the day. We also has a chance to shoot multiple sets with the Phase One IQ3 100 MP camera system.

Sid focused on shooting beverages on the second day, showing us how he coats each glass the night before to show condensation. He also pulled out his ice cube collection to share when and why to use certain cubes for different effects. When it came to shooting the champagne shots, we used the Profoto D2 to capture the pour shots and bubbles at extreme freeze flash durations.

We also used the Phase One XF camera system to shoot a 86 shot focus stack to keep the extreme foreground and background in focus. After the 86 shots were complete, we used Helicon Software to compile the single images. As you could see in the image above, it was truly an amazing process! Crisp focus detail are in every part of the image!
The seminar concluded with Capture Integration and Phase One showing top notch hospitality at two of Wynwood’s highly rated restaurants: KYU and Beaker & Gray.
Overall, this was another great CI Event! Please be sure to keep in touch so you won’t miss our next event. Special thanks to Sid Hoeltzell and his dynamic team for helping us make this seminar a huge success!
